Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to an accident involving a crane truck yesterday afternoon, at approximately 2 o’clock, on Highway 372 at the Conns Creek Road intersection.
According to Battalion Chief, Mark Orr, “The 23-year-old male driver was driving a 38 Ton Boom Truck when he left the road and overturned. The driver, who had a Ball Ground address, was entrapped and was extricated by Cherokee County firefighters with assistance from Mauldin's Wrecker Service who used their rotator wrecker to lift the large truck from the driver’s leg. The driver was transported to North Fulton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Jay Baker, Public Information Officer with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, stated that the truck was traveling south on Highway 372 and drove off the roadway to avoid collision with stopped vehicles.
One lane of Highway 372 was blocked for several hours, however, both lanes were closed when the truck was uprighted. Both lanes opened to traffic just shortly after 7 o’clock last night. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
