First of Three Live Fire Training Drills Completed

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services has completed the first of three live fire training exercises that were held last week on Key Drive, off Highway 20, near the Canton Marketplace Shopping Center.

Live fire training is a critical part of instruction for firefighters. This type of training gives firefighters real-to-live experience when it comes to fighting fires. It also teaches them how to safely and effectively fight fires in a controlled setting under supervision.

In order to conduct a live fire training drill, instructors purposely ignite structures. The structures used in these drills are either built specifically to be burned or are acquired by the fire department for that purpose. Sometimes, live fire training is done at structures that will be eventually torn down for future development of the property.

The next live fire training drills are scheduled for December 12th through the 14th and December 18th through the 20th.  Please be advised that there will be smoke in the area during the following times:
